Brodsky is the latest highest profile cable executive to join the Foundation Board. Tony Werner, president and CTO of Comcast Cable Communications, was elected as president and chairman for the 2011-12 term in November 2011. Earlier this year Marwan Fawaz, a highly regarded leader within the cable technology community, was announced as a board member.

"Julian Brodsky's leadership, business acumen and vision have contributed greatly to the growth of the cable industry," said Werner. "His presence on the Board of Directors will help to enhance the availability of resources that can support the educational goals of cable engineering and operations professionals and increase the skills and the knowledge base of the industry."

Noted Bill Schankel, senior director, marketing for SCTE and SCTE Staff Liaison with the Foundation: "Over the past several months, the SCTE Foundation Board has been strengthened through the new or increased involvement of some of the smartest, most committed leaders in the cable industry. We anticipate that Tony Werner, Marwan Fawaz and now Julian Brodsky will add considerable support to the Foundation's efforts as it accelerates the availability of new learning opportunities that can benefit the career growth of SCTE members."

Prior to his current role with Comcast, Brodsky served as a director from 1969-2011, as non-executive vice chairman from 2004-'11, and as vice chairman from 1987-2004. He also is a director of Amdocs Ltd., RBB Fund, Inc. and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, a trustee and vice chairman of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a director emeritus of The Cable Center.
