OpenTV Corp. said British Sky Broadcasting Group plc is using its new 'OpenTV
Publisher' software to provide 1,000 pages of constantly updated news, sports,
travel, weather and vacation information to interactive-TV subscribers.
The digital text service will launch this week to more than 15 million
direct-broadcast satellite subscribers in the United Kingdom.
Other enhancements allow users to switch instantly between the text
information and linear television, as well as adding easier navigation and quick
links to games, electronic mail and betting.
In other international news, iVAST Inc. signed a deal with Oracle Corp. Japan
and Sun Microsystems Inc. to deliver MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Expert Group)
interactive content to Japanese wireline and wireless broadband platforms.
iVAST is providing the MPEG-4 software, Oracle the database architectures and
content-distribution networks and Sun the server system.
