BT Puts S3 To The Test

S3 Group said BT of the U.K. has tapped the vendor as its preferred supplier for test automation and monitoring and has scaled up its deployment of the S3' StormTest Development Center.

StormTest Development Center, S3’s automated video test platform, is providing BT with service validation capabilities that encompass CPE, headend, and Business and Operations Support Systems (B/OSS). BT's Design, Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams are using it for component, system, and end-to-end tests for the company’s BT Vision and YouView user interfaces, EPG navigation, new software build integrations and to assess the performance of live video.

According to S3, use of the platform has reduced BT’s time required for testing from months to weeks - reducing the product test cycle by up to 50%.

"StormTest Development Center allows us to validate the end-to-end customer experience, rigorously testing services prior to deployment, and ensuring they meet the highest quality standards when in production," said Greg McCall, Chief Operating Officer for television and content at BT, in a statement. "Notably, it enables us to efficiently and reliably deliver rapid innovation, while improving the quality and stability of BT's video services."

"BT is a pioneer in IPTV, and we are very proud to enhance our role in their video deployments," said Philip Brennan, Vice President of TV Technology at S3 Group. "BT's choice of S3 Group as its preferred video testing and monitoring supplier for BT TV further demonstrates our continued leadership helping operators transition to a more automated means to assess video performance and service readiness,” added Philip Brennan, VP of TV technology at S3.
