Budweiser is now the preferred pint on Fox Soccer Channel’s Super Sunday + show.
The Anheuser-Busch brand became the official sponsor of Super Sunday +, which airs live and features highlights, interviews, tactical breakdowns and commentary from the weekend's world soccer action, on Jan. 11, succeeding Bass Ale. Deal terms were not disclosed.
Super Sunday + , scheduled to air next on Jan. 18 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (ET), now features Warren Barton as a member of its on-air side. Barton, a former Wimbledon, Newcastle United and English national team defender, joined the network last 2008 as an analyst on Fox Soccer Match Day. Barton began his new hosting position on the Jan. 4 edition of Super Sunday +.
Budweiser is also the exclusive beer sponsor of England’s Barclays Premier League, which is featured prominently on the network along with Italy's Serie A, Argentine Premier Division and the U.S.’s Major League Soccer and United Soccer Leagues, on Fox Soccer Channel
“As a strong supporter of soccer around the world, Budweiser wanted to further leverage its sponsorship of Manchester United and the Barclays Premier League beyond the UK,” said Dan McHugh, vice president of media, sponsorship and activation, Anheuser-Busch, in a statement. “Super Sunday + provides a natural extension state-side for Budweiser to reach a large base of passionate soccer fans.”
Added FSC vice president of ad sales Mike Petruzzi: “This is just another example of how Fox Soccer Channel is able to create value for our advertisers by integrating their brand within studio shows and the network’s coverage of live matches. Advertisers that recognize the value in Fox Soccer Channel, want to reach this targeted, passionate male viewer.”
