Saying that its access-provisioning products would fare better under new ownership, C-COR is selling off two product lines to fellow operations and support-systems provider Sigma Systems.
Under the deal announced Wednesday, C-COR will hand over its Service Activation Manager and Service Provisioning Manager product lines and associated licenses to Sigma, and then jointly co-market the products to network-operator customers. Terms of the deal, including the sale price, were not announced.
While it is shedding the provisioning products, C-COR will stay active in the operational-systems-support space. It will continue to offer an array of network-resource-management products including Key Distribution Center, Policy Service Manager, Network Service Manager, Mobile Workforce Manager and CableEdge.
The shift in product ownership and the joint partnership between C-COR and Sigma will help customers to more quickly deploy the products, according to Robert Cruickshank, C-COR’s vice president of OSS market strategy.
"For customers of our SAM and SPM, folding the technology and support of these products under Sigma Systems will provide them with broader flexibility and choice in service activation and provisioning functionality,” he said.
“For the cable industry, applying the combined experience and expertise of C-COR and Sigma to the OSS requirements of future converged-network architectures will speed innovation and provide the shortest path to a fully integrated OSS solution for voice, video and data over wireline or wireless networks," Cruickshank added.
