CAB '07 Brews Up Ad Dialogue at Cable Show

Themes for the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau's 2007 Sales Management Conference include advanced advertising technologies, political advertising, leadership skills … and beer.

The latter — at least as it has to do with brand management and advertising — comes courtesy of August Busch IV, the Anheuser Busch Companies president and CEO, who will deliver a keynote address May 9.

2007 marks the first year the CAB is integrating its conference with the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's annual industry trade show (recently renamed The Cable Show.)

The thinking: Attendees can get exposure to a wider array of cable industry information and access to programming and technology vendors.

The CAB portion of The Cable Show includes Busch's keynote, followed by a general session devoted to advertising issues, featuring Discovery Communications president and CEO David Zaslav, Scripps Networks president John Lansing, Oxygen Media president and chief operating officer Lisa Gersh and Time Warner Cable COO Landel Hobbs.

Also on the agenda: a May 8 “president's panel,” “Which Screen? A Reality Check on the Multiplatform Evolution,” a session on political advertising, sessions on advanced advertising, leadership and motivation, and several “great ideas” discussions in which participants will share recent success stories tied to local cable advertising.

The organization also will use the venue to stage its annual Cable Advertising Awards ceremony May 8, hosted by CNN correspondent Brooke Anderson.
