Los Angeles -- New Jersey-based pay-per-view company Cabil
Corp. has teamed up with AT&T Broadband & Internet Services' Headend in the Sky
and General Instrument Corp. to offer hotel PPV services to cable operators.
The turnkey service will support both analog and digital
systems and allow operators to provide PPV movies, events and adult services to small and
midsized hotel outlets, Cabil president Leonard Sabal said.
The service can be implemented without additional operator
investment in equipment. Cabil will handle the transactions for operators. Consumers using
the service can order movies and events through credit cards.
"With direct credit-card billing to the guest's
personal Visa or MasterCard, the new systems bypassed the collection and billing process
by a hotel, as well as the associated denials, credits and adjustments that historically
go along with desk handling," Cabil said.
