The Cable Center said it will record an oral-history overview of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing during this week’s CTAM Summit in Boston.
The project is part of several interviews The Cable Center -- formerly known as the National Cable Center and Museum -- has recorded of cable pioneers such as Turner Broadcasting System and CNN founder Ted Turner.
The Cable Center said it will record several oral-history panels Tuesday, which will be closed to CTAM attendees. Eventually, they will be available on The Cable Center’s Web site (www.cablecenter.org) and CTAM’s site (www.ctam.com).
Tuesday’s interviews include discussions with longtime HBO executive and CTAM founder Gail Sermesheim, former Jones Intercable president Greg Liptak and publisher Paul Maxwell on a panel called “The Early Days.”
Former American Television and Communications CEO Trygve Myhren, former KBLCom president Gary Weik and former United Cable executive Charlie Townsend will be featured on a panel focused on “The Second Decade.”
Former Telewest CEO David Van Valkenburg, former Discovery Channel president Ruth Otte and former Time Warner Cable executive Chuck Ellis will focus on the 1990s during a “CTAM Grows” panel.
And CTAM CEO Char Beales will lead a panel focused on “Recent Developments.”
