Cable Debuts More Black History Shows


Cable networks are continuing their celebration of Black Music Month with the debuts of several specials and events throughout the month of June.
TV One will premiere new episodes of its popular original music/documentary series Unsung focusing on 1980's R&B group Shalamar (June 21) and Supremes singer Florence Ballard (June 28), according to the network.
Black Entertainment Television on June 17 will premiere its BET Awards nomination special focusing on the artists, athletes, actors and actresses recognized as part of the network's upcoming awards event. The live BET Awards telecast, hosted by Jamie Foxx and featuring performers such as Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, and Mary, Mary, will premiere June 28, according to the network.
Gospel Music Channel will give a nod to the legendary gospel artist Queen Ester Marrow with a series of specials airing each Sunday throughout the month, according to network officials.
