NBC’s new year-round programming format will include a couple of USA Network’s shows.

In announcing its plans for the next TV season, NBC extended its lineup into summer 2009, replete with entries from its sister service -- basic-cable’s most successful skein Monk, as well as competition series Nashville Star, which is already set to migrate to the Peacock.

USA recently announced a seventh and perhaps final season pick-up for Monk. The 16 new episodes will be divided between summer 2008 and second-half run, commencing next January.

Nashville Star, after a five-season run on USA, makes the break to broadcast this summer, debuting June 9, one of six reality shows NBC plans to air leading up to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Featuring new host Billy Ray Cyrus (Hannah Montana), the winner of this year’s talent search will receive a recording contract and get to perform at the Summer Games.
