Cable’s Next Generation


They’re like money in the bank: the young talent that cable companies invest in as a means of constantly freshening and growing their lines of businesses. Who holds the promise of becoming the next-generation version of Tom Freston, Char Beales or Dick Parsons? To answer that question, the editors of Multichannel News recently went on a quest to pinpoint 12 up-and-coming executives in the cable ranks under 40. Maybe they won’t reach the most powerful heights of the industry, but we wanted to find people who will very likely take part in significant changes within the firms where they work, or within the industry at large.

Of course, it would have been a fool’s errand to come up with an ultimate dozen; cable’s ranks are just too rich. Rather, the following profiles are a sampling of very promising people. For those that didn’t make the cut, please take heart. If you make the age criteria, we want to hear about you early next year. We plan to make the “Next Generation” report an annual tradition.
