Cable Scribes Finalists for Humanitas Prize

Disney Channel, HBO, Lifetime Television and Nick, Jr. are finalists in Tuesday’s 33rd Humanitas Prize Luncheon in Los Angeles.

In the 90-minute category, the writers of HBO’s Longford and Tsunami, The Aftermath Part II and Lifetime’s Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy were nominated, and the winner will garner a $25,000 prize.

The writers of Nick Jr.’s Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends: The Prince, The Princess and the Bee were nominated in the Children’s Animation Category, pitted up against two PBS programs. The winner will receive a $25,000 prize.

Disney Channel’s Jump In!and Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front were nominated in the Children’s Live Action Category, garnering a $25,000 prize for the writers.

Charlie Hauck will emcee the event, with keynote speaker and 2007 Kieser Award recipient Larry Gelbart and The New Adventures of Old Christine actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus making appearances.
