Software security firm Irdeto has licensed S3 Group's automated testing solution for end-to-end testing of different features on multiple varieties of set-top boxes.
The deployment marks the first enterprise-wide licensing of S3's StormTest Development Center. Irdeto has used the product at regional facilities for the past two years and now has rolled it out throughout globally.
"With our stringent requirements for security and reliability, it was important to us to choose a product that was as robust as our solution and scaled to handle multiple sites seamlessly," Irdeto vice president of services Rory O'Connor said. "From support to services, the S3 Group team has been a true partner to work with throughout the ongoing deployment process."
StormTest has been chosen by more than 20 digital TV operators and vendors. S3, founded in 1986, is based in Dublin, Ireland, with development centers in the Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal and the U.S.
S3 will showcase StormTest in the CableNET 2011 pavilion at Cable Show in Chicago. That demo will test interactive TV applications, specifically those written for the EBIF specifications.
