C-SPAN this week will air three events from last week’s Cable Show convention in New Orleans, starting tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
First up will be the Sunday (May 18) general session, “Generation Next: What's Now and What's New in Broadband Media.” It starts with McSlarrow’s keynote; then a welcome by convention co-chairs Rocco Commisso (of Mediacom Communications) and Debra Lee (of BET Networks); and finally a panel with Peter Chernin (News Corp.), Philippe Dauman (Viacom), Paul Otellini (Intel), Brian Roberts (Comcast) and Yoshi Yamada (Panasonic), moderated by former Federal Communications Commission chairman William Kennard (The Carlyle Group).
Tomorrow (May 28) at 6:45 pm ET, C-SPAN will show the session “Bit by Bit: Convergence Creates the Picture” from Monday afternoon (May 19). It starts with a keynote by U.S. Commerce Dept. secretary Carlos Gutierrez (US Department of Commerce) and proceeds to a panel with George Bodenheimer (ESPN), Glenn Britt (Time Warner Cable), Judy McGrath (MTV Networks), Scott McNeally (Sun Microsystems) and Neil Smit (Charter Communications), moderated by Debra Lee.
On Friday (May 30) at 8 p.m. C-SPAN will air the session “Presidential Politics and Public Policy: The Stage of Things to Come” from Sunday (May 18). It was a panel with Kennard, Susan Ness (former FCC commissioner) and Michael Powell (former FCC chairman) that was moderated by Kathleen Abernathy (also a former FCC commissioner).
