Cable Upfront Slows Down

Publish date:

The hitherto brisk cable upfront pace appeared to slow last week, as major
agency buyers balked at some networks' rate increases, according to
cable-industry sources.

Cable sources added that MAGNA Global USA, a mega-media buyer, has finalized
very little cable business thus far.

Jack Myers, editor of Jack Myers Report newsletter, estimated
Thursday, "When all is done in two to three weeks, [cable's upfront] will be
$5.8 billion to $6 billion."
