Cable Vet Walker Walks to MGM

Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios hired cable veteran Faye Walker to serve as vice president, worldwide television marketing.

Most recently head of marketing for The Tennis Channel, Walker in her new role will oversee the marketing of all MGM television programming worldwide, including cable, syndication, ad sales, video-on-demand initiatives and campaigns. She will also oversee the creation of collateral-marketing materials in support of new TV programs and telefilms.

Among her current assignments, Walker is devising national and local campaigns for MGM’s new syndicated offerings of Reno911!and Chappelle’s Show, which have been sold in the top three U.S. TV markets -- New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Before joining Tennis as VP of marketing when the independent placed its first serve in 2002, Walker was VP of marketing and promotions at GSN.

“Faye is a highly motivated, award-winning marketer with demonstrated leadership skills, creative vision and a proven track record in brand building,” said Jim Packer, president of worldwide television distribution at MGM, to whom Walker will report, in a prepared statement.“In perpetuating MGM’s brand throughout the global television arena, she will play an integral role toward our overall success.”
