LOUISVILLE, COLO. -Cable Television Laboratories Inc. said Friday it concluded the first certification wave to cover two generations of high-speed cable modems and cable modem termination system equipment.
Five companies-Ambit, D-Link, Elsa, Toshiba Corp., and Zoom-were recertified for modems that adhere to Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 1.0. Cisco Systems Inc. and RiverDelta CMTS equipment requalified.
More than 100 DOCSIS 1.0 devices have been certified for retail sale, including ones for use inside personal computers. Because 1.1 testing is so complex, each certification wave in 2001 will be extended by several weeks, CableLabs said.
