CableServ Inc. will upgrade five systems in the Southeast for an unnamed MSO, the company said Thursday.

The amplifier upgrade will boost 1,000 miles of the MSO's network bandwidth from 550 megahertz to 625 MHz by using the vendor’s “Amplifier Upgrades” products and solutions for gear made by Magnavox Consumer Electronics, Scientific-Atlanta Inc. and General Instrument Corp. (now Motorola Broadband Communications Sector).

“Our solution uses cable operators' existing amplifiers as a tool to get their networks up to speed quickly and at a fraction of the cost of new equipment,” CableServ president Audley Alexander said in a prepared statement.

The company has performed upgrades for MSOs including Persona Communications, Rogers Cable Inc., EastLink, Adelphia Communications Corp., Comcast Corp., AT&T Broadband, Charter Communications Inc., Mediacom Communications Corp., Cox Communications Inc., Northland Cable Television and Service Electric Cable TV Inc.
