Cablevision Aims Discounted 'Ultimate' Bundle At Telco, Satellite TV Subs

Cablevision Systems is aggressively targeting the Ultimate Triple Play bundle -- featuring its new 50 Mbps broadband service -- at current satellite and telco TV customers, offering a 20% discounted rate of $79.90 per month for two years if they switch.

The cable operator on Monday debuted the Ultimate bundle, normally priced at $99.80 per month for the first year.

To receive the special $79.90 monthly rate, satellite and phone company TV subscribers must provide their previous provider's bill dated no more than 90 days prior to getting connected with Cablevision.

Customers must maintain all three services at the required levels to receive the promotional pricing. Additional charges apply for digital set-tops and DVRs, and there's a one-time installation fee of $19.95.

According to a Cablevision marketing e-mail outlining the offer, the promotion expires May 15.

The Ultimate Triple Play includes the Optimum Online Boost Plus, which provides up to 50 Mbps downstream and up to 8 Mbps upstream; iO TV with 275 channels; Optimum Voice with unlimited calling in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico; a free 802.11n wireless router; and access to Optimum Link, Cablevision's PC-to-TV streaming service, at no additional charge (normally $4.95 per month extra).
