Cablevision Injunction vs. Mets Nixed

A New York State judge Thursday denied Cablevision Systems Corp.’s request for an injunction to block the New York Mets’ proposed regional sports network.

New York State Justice Helen Freedman ruled that Cablevision failed to show that it would suffer “irreparable” damage if the network -- owned by the Major League Baseball team, Time Warner Cable and Comcast Corp. -- began its 2006 launch preparations while the team was still under contract with Cablevision’s Madison Square Garden Networks, a deal that expires at the end of the 2005 season.

In a statement, MSGN said: “Although the court did not grant our motion for a preliminary injunction, this was not a decision on the merits of our claims and we intend to pursue the matter.”
