Calif. City Not Banning Verizon

Verizon Communications will offer its Verizon FiOS TV service in Banning, Calif., following a vote by the City Council Tuesday night.

Banning, which has approximately 9,000 households, is the 11th California community to grant the regional Bell operating company a video franchise.

Verizon already offers FiOS TV in Beaumont and Murrieta, and the telco plans to launch the service later this year in Hermosa Beach, Apple Valley, Lake Elsinore, Temecula and Manhattan Beach. The company also has franchise agreements with Camarillo, Perris and (pending final council approval) Malibu.
