Verizon Communications Inc. has received its second California cable franchise, allowing it to offer video services in the community of Murrieta.
The City Council approved the pact Tuesday night. Verizon will provide video services in competition with Adelphia Communications Corp. and Comcast Corp. which do not compete with each other.
Murrieta is not adjacent to Verizon's first California franchise, in Beaumont. The new franchise is in Riverside County, to the southeast of Los Angeles.
Verizon officials said programming and pricing details will not be announced until the service debuts in Keller, Texas, later this year. Murrieta residents will be offered video products in 2006.
