Adelphia Communications Corp.’s high-speed-data subscribers have something to hum along to.
The MSO Thursday launched “Adelphia Music,” a premium-subscription service that provides access to more than 1.5 million tracks.
The $7.95-per-month service, powered by MusicNet, gives Adelphia’s high-speed-data subscribers access to exclusive song titles, music videos, editorial play lists and otherfeatures, all in CD-quality audio.
Subscribers may stream or download as many songs as they want to play on their PCs, and they have the option to purchase songs to burn to CDs or transfer to supported portable music players.
The MSO also announced the launch of “Adelphia NetPak,” a $9.95-per-month premium-subscription service including access content from MLB.com (mlb.mlb.com), American Greetings.com (www.americangreetings.com), CleverIsland (www.cleverisland.com), Encyclopaedia Britannica (www.britannica.com), Shockwave.com GameBlast (gameblast.shockwave.com), CNN.com (www.cnn.com) and weather.com (www.weather.com).
Synacor Inc. is handling the integration of all premium content services for Adelphia.net (www.adelphia.net). The company’s software platform supports the integration of a variety of premium services accessible via a single user ID, password and interface, as well as the ability for the MSO to add these services directly to its cable bills.
“Adelphia Music enhances the value of our high-speed-Internet service by making it affordable, safe and fun for our customers to find their favorite music or discover new music online,” Adelphia director of high-speed-Internet product marketing Jeff Turner said in a prepared statement.
