Cancer Forces Rukeyser to Quit Show

CNBC’s Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street will cease production by the end of the year, AP reported.

Rukeyser has been off the air for one year due to cancer in his lower back, and Consuelo Mack has been hosting the show.

Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street has been running for 32 years, mostly on PBS until 2002, when the network let Rukeyser go and he shifted the show to CNBC. It also continued to air on 162 PBS stations, a CNBC spokeswoman told AP.

The 71-year-old Rukeyser last appeared on his show in October 2003.

"He is a true original and we, like his millions of fans, will deeply miss his wit, wisdom and our time together," CNBC president Pamela Thomas-Graham said in a prepared statement. "We send him all of our best wishes for a full recovery."
