Cartoon Network -- which launched its 'Adult Swim' block of animated shows
last month, aimed at adults aged 18 through 34 -- announced Monday that American
Honda Motor Co. Inc., Kimberly-Clark Corp. and the U.S. Navy have joined the
network's list of sponsors.
Honda is advertising its 'Odyssey' model, Kimberly-Clark its 'Kotex' brand
and the Navy a recruitment campaign, according to Cartoon executive vice
president of sales and marketing Kim McQuilken.
Even before Adult Swim, 'almost one-third' of Cartoon's audience was
comprised of viewers over age 18, McQuilken said, adding that marketers that
have been buying the network for those teen and adult viewers include Chili's
Grill & Bar; The Gillette Co.; Sears, Roebuck & Co.; and Levi Strauss
Already this year, the network reported that nonkids advertisers have
increased by about one-third.
