Cartoon Network will be the official television-network partner for the United Nations Children’s Fund’s “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF” for the fourth consecutive year, the network said Wednesday.

Cartoon said it will serve primarily as UNICEF’s partner to cable affiliates around the country, offering on-air and off-channel media support, along with special tools designed to create customized UNICEF programs for Halloween celebrations in local markets.

The network will also provide on-air and online-media support, as well as sponsorship of select affiliate-market events.

“Cartoon Network is extremely proud to support UNICEF once again this year with the familiar Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign,” executive vice president and general manager Jim Samples said in a prepared statement.

“Our kid viewers and their parents will recognize the lasting relationship Cartoon Network has forged with UNICEF, particularly when we teamed up in January this year to help kids themselves generate support for victims of the Asia tsunami,” he added. “That effort helped kids to raise $5 million in relief -- a wonderful testimony to the generosity and creativity of kids across the country.”
