Cartoon Inks Hi Hi Puffy Game Pact

D3Publisher of America Inc. (D3PA) reached an agreement for the video-game rights for Cartoon Network’s Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi animated series with Cartoon Network Enterprises, the two parties announced Thursday.

D3PA said the first title under the agreement will be created for Nintendo of America Inc.'s “Game Boy Advance” platform.

The video-game publisher has the right to produce console, hand-held and computer software featuring Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi over the next five years.

“We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with such a creative, entertaining animated property and look forward to delivering a great gaming experience to Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi fans worldwide,” D3PA vice president of licensing and business development Careen Yapp said in a prepared statement.

Cartoon Network Enterprises senior VP John Friend added, “With ratings that continue to climb from week to week, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi appears to be at the forefront of an all-new J-pop sensation. These new video games from D3Publisher will be a great way to capture and further build on the excitement of this emerging show.”
