Cartoon’s Foster’s Home on Burger King Menu

Later this month, Burger King Corp. will feature nine new menu items: “Wind-N-Wobble Blooregard,” “Eye Watch Eduardo” and “Fancy Feet Herriman,” among them.

Toys based on the make-believe buddies from Cartoon Network’s original series, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, will be available nationwide as premiums in the burger chain’s “Kids Meals” from late April through mid-May.

As part of the promotion -- which is timed to brand new episodes of Foster’s that will premiere on the animated channel’s “Fridays” programming block -- the network and the eatery are also encouraging kids to create portraits of their own imaginary friends.

Using the “Gallery of Imagination” function on CartoonNetwork.com (www.cartoonnetwork.com), kids can form their own friends by mixing and matching from a palette of torsos, arms and legs, before submitting their creation to the Web site. A number of these creations will then be selected and featured on a pair of 15-second ads airing May 5 and 12 during the aforementioned programming block.

Additionally, many newly created friends will be selected at random and featured in an online gallery as part of a co-branded interactive Web site with Burger King, housed at CartoonNetwork.com.

Support for the Foster’s toys will come in the form of a 30-second spot from Burger King that will introduce the toys, point-of-purchase displays at participating restaurants, birthday mailers and newsletters. For its part, Cartoon will tout the promotion and encourage kids to visit the Web site to engage in the previously described friends-creation process.

“Burger King Corp. is a true leader in innovative kids’ promotions, and we are delighted to be partnering with them to bring these new and unique toys to fans of Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends,” Cartoon senior vice president of promotions marketing Phyllis Ehrlich said in a prepared statement. “We are also looking forward to seeing the wonderful, inspired creations our viewers will dream up for us online.”

The six other Foster’s toys that will be available in the Kids Meal are: “Create a Face Wilt,” “Create a Face Eduardo,” “Create a Face Coco,” “Mix N Match Coco,” “Mix N Match Wilt” and “Mix N Match Herriman.”
