Investigative Discovery's news magazine On the Case with Paula Zahn is the latest show to set a viewership record for the surging basic cable network.
The show's Jan. 9 episode averaged a record 936,000 viewers and 527,000 viewers in the network's core adult 25-54 demo, said network officials. That beat out the 778,000 viewers an episode of ID's original series Nightmare Next Door generated just last Thursday (Jan. 6).
For the night, the On The Case episode beat Comedy Central, TBS, AMC, Spike, Lifetime, MTV, among others in P25-54 delivery and out delivered TBS, FX, TRU, Lifetime, Comedy Central, Syfy, AMC, Hallmark and others for W25-54, said ID officials.
Investigative Discovery posted the biggest year-to-year primetime audience increase among all basic cable networks in 2010, boosting its prime time audience by 65% to 369,000 viewers, according to Nielsen.
