CEA: 43M Broadband Households

A total of 43 million U.S. households now have broadband Internet access, compared with just 2 million in 1999, according to a study by the Consumer Electronics Association.

CEA CEO Gary Shapiro discussed the results during his opening keynote at the Electronic House Expo in Orlando, Fla.

Also from the study, “Broadband and the Home of Tomorrow,” 33% of non-HDTV households are interested in having a professional install an HDTV set in the next two years, which translates into 20.5 million households.
