A Dixie Chick appearing on Trading Spaces translated into record
ratings for The Learning Channel Saturday.
The April 20 edition of Trading Spaces, featuring the Dixie Chicks'
Natalie Maines in the series' first celebrity edition, garnered a 3.15 average
audience rating from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a 2.75 rating among adults 25 through
54, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Those numbers were the highest in TLC's history, according to network
executives, who also noted that Trading Spaces ranked first on basic
cable April 20 among adults 25 through 54 (a 2.75), men 18 through 34 (3.49),
women 18 through 34 (3.3) and women 18 through 49 (3.56).
The installment also beat the four broadcast networks in that time slot among
adults 18 through 34.
All told, the show attracted some 2.6 million households and 4.2 million
Elsewhere, sister network Discovery Channel's presentation of The Real
Eve -- a documentary tracing the expansion of modern humans throughout the
world, hosted by Danny Glover -- recorded a 2.85 average audience during its
April 21 premiere.
The Real Eve was the fourth-highest-rated documentary on basic cable this
year, trailing Discovery's two installments of Blue Planet Jan. 27 and
its airing of Motorcycle Mania Jan. 13, according to network
