CenturyLink announced Tuesday that Savvis, the data hosting unit that the telco acquired in 2011 for $2.5 billion, has been rebranded as CenturyLink Technology Solutions.
The decision essentially aligns the brands of the parent company and the unit that’s focused on colocation, managed services, and cloud- and network-based offerings for business customers.

"While we are extremely proud of our nearly 20-year legacy operating as Savvis within the industry, we value CenturyLink's extensive market leadership and look forward to operating under one brand to continue helping businesses become more agile, secure and sustainable with integrated solutions that deliver bottom-line results."
CenturyLink Technology Solutions will remain the data hosting operating segment within CenturyLink.
CenturyLink’s data hosting unit posted third quarter operating revenues of $342 million, up 4% from the year-ago quarter. Colocation revenues reached $146 million, up 1.4% year-over-year, while managed hosting revenues were $129 million, a 15% increase.
Time Warner Cable’s business service division made its cloud play in 2011 with the $230 million purchase of NaviSite, which continues to retain its separate brand identity. Following a reorganization of TWC’s business unit last year, NaviSite is now one of the division’s five distinct, key teams. The others are sales, marketing, product, and operations.
