Oftentimes when you're asked to be part of an industry committee, you just begin to make real progress — and the year has flown by and your term is over. Having chaired the Mark Awards Committee for the past three years, I've had the luxury and privilege of crystallizing a vision and working it through with a strong committee, and a very effective CTAM organization, to affect real change and improvement.
But even as we worked to raise the standards, tighten up the process, improve outreach to the creative community, jazz up the Gallery and make the whole event more inventive and effective, the marketing climate continues to evolve. As marketers, we expect that. In fact, we embrace it as one more way to keep us sharp and responsive. Our competitive landscape, the new products and the higher quality of programming have required industry marketers to be more sophisticated, more creative and smarter. The winners in this year's competition prove we're entering a new era in marketing excellence. And that's good news.
As I wrap up my run, I'd like to thank the Mark Awards Committee for their dedication and hard work. And of course, hats off to our sponsors, judges, and honorees.
