Out of Africa, AWOL comic Dave Chappelle has now turned up in his hometown in Ohio, according to a press report.
Chappelle -- whose abrupt absence forced Comedy Central to indefinitely postpone the May 31 debut of the third season of Chappelle’s Show -- was spotted last week in Yellow Springs, Ohio, according to the Dayton Daily News.
Chappelle was raised in Yellow Springs, and he still has a farm near the town, according to the local paper.
Comedy said May 4 that it was suspending production of Chappelle’s hit show. That’s because the stand-up comic took off, making his way to South Africa to rest because he was “stressed out,” as he told Time magazine.
Comedy still hasn’t heard directly from Chappelle about his whereabouts, network spokesman Tony Fox said Tuesday. But Comedy had seen the most recent report in the Dayton paper, he added.
