Charter Drops Six Digi-Nets

Looking to standardize its program lineup throughout Greater St. Louis,
Charter Communications Inc. is dropping six digital networks from one of its
suburban systems.

Starting Wednesday, the newly rebuilt system in St. Peters, Mo., which
Charter had acquired from AT&T Broadband, is switching out ESPNews, GoodLife
Television Network, Trio, Newsworld International, The Outdoor Channel and INSP:
The Inspirational Network.

Roughly 16,000 of the system's 50,000 subscribers have digital.

Those six networks are delivered to the cable system via AT&T's Headend
in the Sky. Charter has been moving away from using HITS in some markets. And at
its St. Louis cluster, Charter is consolidating headends and wants a consistent
channel lineup across its systems, spokesman Dave Andersen
