Charter Eliminates CAO Post; Schumm Out

Charter Communications Inc. said Thursday that it is scrapping its chief administrative officer post.

As a result of the move, executive vice president, CAO and former interim chief financial officer Steven Schumm, who has been with the MSO since 1998, is no longer with the company, AP reported.

The move was announced in a one-sentence filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and AP reported that Charter senior VP of communications David Andersen would not elaborate.

Schumm served as interim CFO from December 2002-January 2004 after Kent Kalkwarf was fired in connection with a scheme to defraud Charter investors by artificially inflating the MSO’s subscriber numbers.

Kalkwarf pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud Wednesday, avoiding what could have been a lengthy federal trial that was set to begin in about two weeks.

Schumm was not accused of wrongdoing, according to AP.
