Charter Gains WealthTV In Carolinas, Virginia

WealthTV will gain linear carriage on Charter Communications systems serving North and South Carolina and Virginia in the middle of next month.

The upscale lifestyle/entertainment network will be rolled out Aug. 13 to Charter digital-cable customers in such markets as Asheville, Hickory and Boone, N.C.; Spartanburg and Greenville, S.C.; and Suffolk and Sanford, Va.

Currently, Charter, which has provided linear carriage of the network since October 2004, also offers WealthTV’s high-definition video on demand programming across its entire VOD-enabled footprint. At any time, the operator proffers more than 200 HD movies and shows through its on demand service.

“Charter is pleased to add WealthTV in Virginia and the Carolinas,” said Anthony Pope, vice president and general manager for Charter in the region, in a statement. “We are committed to providing value in our video service as we continue to add more choice and variety like the programming offered by WealthTV.”

Added WealthTV executive vice president of affiliate relations John Ghiorzi: “Charter continues to provide their customers with a robust lineup of exciting and original programming. It’s a key milestone for us to earn digital and high definition channel positions in these key states. WealthTV lets viewers live the American dream by simply watching their TV.”

All told, Wealth TV counts some 5 million full-time subs through deals with members of the National Cable Television Cooperative, Charter, Verizon FiOS, AT&T's U-verse and U.S. Cable, among others.
