Charter Picks New CherryPicker

Charter Communications Inc. has bought into Terayon Communications Systems
Inc.'s new DM 3200 Network CherryPicker to manage its custom digital video
programming lineups.

DM 3200s already have been installed in several Charter cable systems, where
they are riding herd on picture quality, bandwidth usage across multiple
channels, digital ad insertion and high-definition TV rate shaping.

Compared to its predecessor, the DM3200 uses new algorithms and more advanced
integrated circuits, all housed in a much smaller unit.

Able to fit into just one rack unit, it doubles the inputs from eight to 16,
and outputs have expanded from one to four.

The DM3200 also is able to rate shape up to 32 programs and
services.
