Top Execs' New Work Digs To Be Formally Announced Tuesday
Charter Communications' planned new New York City-area corporate office will be located in Stamford, Conn., the company confirmed to Multichannel News ahead of an expected press conference tomorrow by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
Charter, based in St. Louis, said this past June it wanted a New York-area corporate hub for top executives, presumably including CEO Tom Rutledge and COO John Bickham, who still live in the area after having worked at Cablevision Systems and, earlier, Time Warner Cable.
Charter has obtained 70,000 square feet in an office building at 400 Atlantic St., a company official said. A web site for Broadway Partners, which previously owned the building, describes it as a 15-story, Class A property in downtown Stamford, fronting Interstate 95, one block from the Stamford railroad station and Town Center Mall.
The company has posted listings for dozens of jobs in Stamford, listings that are available on the site indeed.com. Jobs posted included executive assistant, VP of investor relations and senior manager of digital marketing. Those listings acted as an alert that the company had picked a Stamford site.
A company official said at least some of those jobs would be transferred from St. Louis, Mo., along with existing employees, but said some jobs would go to new hires in Connecticut.
More detail was expected to be announced soon by Gov. Malloy and Charter.
