Charter Pitches In For ‘Extreme Makeover’

Volunteers from Charter Communications Inc.'s Northern Nevada region got an inside look at an upcoming episode of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as amateur homebuilders and service suppliers for a local project completed last week.

The reality show picked a pastor and his family in Stagecoach, Nev., outside Reno, as home improvement subjects, according to Charter. The Boettcher family converted the garage next to their aging mobile home into an after-school destination for at-risk youth.

With the help of local builder West Haven Development Group and other local businesses, including Charter, Extreme Makeover built a new home for the couple, their daughter and an 18-month-old grandchild with a medical condition.

Charter provided two 42-inch plasma TVs for the new build, as well as donating a year of digital cable service and equipment to the family. The project wrapped on Jan. 18.

Manny Martinez, VP and general manager for Charter in the region, said the cable company and other local businesses got back much more than they gave to the project.

“The Charter team is so pleased to have been part of helping this family who helps so many,” he said.
