Charter’s Hometown Goes ‘All Digital’

Charter Communications Inc. pushed forward with the rollout of its “All Digital” technology in the St. Louis metropolitan area last week.

The area surrounding Charter’s hometown -- including cities in both Missouri and Illinois -- joins the MSO’s system in Long Beach, Calif., which went All Digital last summer, and Madison, Wis., which did so in March.

“Charter has developed the technological means to improve existing analog-delivered channels for noticeably better viewing,” St. Louis metropolitan-area vice president and general manager Jim Renken said in a prepared statement. “With clearer, crisper images and consistent digital sound quality on every channel, All Digital provides an exceptional viewing experience for our customers.”

He continued, “We want to assure our nondigital customers that Charter will continue to support our analog-channel lineup, only now, all channels that are currently analog will also be digitized. This change gives our customers a significant advantage in terms of what other providers are able to offer their customers.”
