Charter Communications Inc. and Starz Encore Group LLC inked a distribution
deal Wednesday that calls for the 'Starz Super Pak' to be launched in Charter
digital systems over the next two years.
Starz estimated that the Super Pak -- consisting of 14 Starz Encore premium
digital services -- will be available to more than 50 percent of Charter's
customers by the end of 2001 and to more than 5 million by the end of 2002.
'Charter's customers are asking for the Starz Super Pak,' Charter vice
president of programming and pay-per-view Patty McCaskill said in a prepared
statement. 'It's a great product with an outstanding lineup of new and themed
movies, including exclusive, first-run movies from Hollywood. Our new
partnership will be instrumental in strengthening Charter's digital leadership
and accelerating future digital growth.'
The Super Pak includes Starz!, Encore, Action, Mystery, Black
Starz!, Westerns, Starz! Family, Love Stories, True Stories, Starz! Theater,
WAM! America's Kidz Network, Starz! Cinema and, to be offered in 2002, Starz!
Comedy and Starz! Kidz.
