Charter Taps Rob Klippel for Advanced Ad Post

Charter Communications is muscling up on the ad front with the hiring of Rob Klippel to the post of senior vice president, advanced advertising products and strategy.

In that role, Klippel will be responsible for the MSO’s advanced advertising products. Charter said he’ll work closely with the company’s product management and IT & engineering teams on Spectrum Reach, a next-gen advanced advertising platform that spans digital, set-top VOD and addressable/data products.

Klippel reports to David Kline, executive vice president and president of media sales, at Charter, and will be based at the company’s corporate HQ in Stamford, Conn.

Klippel joins Charter after 12 years with Comcast, where he most recently was vice president of advanced platforms, and oversaw the enablement of dynamic ad insertion on the MSO’s VOD and linear addressable platforms. At Comcast (and at its Comcast Spotlight division), he also served in roles such as as vice president of new products and vice president of engineering and operations. Before that, Klippel served as vice president of customer care operations at Adelphia Communications (sold to Time Warner and Comcast in 2006), and is late of Relera Inc. and Veri.

“Rob’s great depth of experience in both cable and cable advertising will be a tremendous asset to Spectrum Reach,” Kline said, in a statement. “I’m confident he will quickly have a positive impact on our ability to provide the latest digital advertising solutions to our clients.”

Klippel earned a bachelor of science in engineering – industrial engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA in marketing and operations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
