Charter To Test Rentrak's Linear TV Ratings

Charter Communications will begin a linear TV measurement trial with Rentrak, focusing on the relationship between linear television and on-demand viewing patterns, and the MSO will provide set-top data to Rentrak's TV Essentials service.

Rentrak's TV Essentials system processes data from more than 7 million set-top boxes on Dish Network and AT&T U-verse TV.

"Consumers ultimately benefit from a better understanding of linear and on-demand television viewing habits through improved programming and easier access to that programming," Charter senior vice president of advertising sales Jim Heneghan said in a statement.

Rentrak also processes VOD data representing more than 54 million set-tops.
