Cheatwood Joins Fox News

Fox News Channel recruited broadcast-TV-news veteran Joel Cheatwood, naming him vice president of business development.

Cheatwood will develop programs for both Fox News and the upcoming Fox Business Channel.

Cheatwood, who will report to Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, built his career as a news director at local TV stations.

He worked most recently as CNN as executive director of program and talent development. After joining CNN in 2004, he created Glenn Beck’s program and Showbiz Tonight for CNN Headline News.

In local news, Cheatwood worked as station manager at KYW-TV (CBS) in Philadelphia, and he was VP of news and promotion at WMAQ-TV (NBC) in Chicago. Earlier, he spent six years as senior VP at Sunbeam Television, where he ran news and promotion for WHDH-TV (NBC) in Boston and WSVN-TV (Fox) in Miami.
