Cable in the Classroom is looking for leaders again.
The cable industry’s education foundation Wednesday announced plans for its second-annual “Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards” initiative, which will recognize educators and others who have created and implemented innovative learning programs around the country -- especially those that use cable technology and programming.
Other special categories will recognize the contributions of state and local officials, as well as another -- chosen in partnership with the National PTA -- recognizing leadership in advancing media-literacy skills.
The winners will be saluted at a gala awards ceremony in the late spring in Washington, D.C., CIC said.
“Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards offer a tremendous opportunity for the industry to highlight and celebrate its unparalleled, long-term commitment to education, and the awards this year will have an even stronger focus on innovative education programs that cable operators and programmers provide,” CIC executive director Helen Soulé said in a prepared statement.
