Representatives of eight cable operators will serve on a new Cable in the
Classroom advisory board, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
The board, consisting of cable-system officials from around the country, will
assist CIC on various projects, educational resources and Web-site content.
The represented MSOs are Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable, Adelphia
Communications Corp., Insight Communications Co. Inc., Cable One Inc., Cox
Communications Inc., Charter Communications Inc. and Bright House Networks,
operated by Advance/Newhouse Communications.
All board members will serve one-year terms, CIC noted.
"We're pleased to get the counsel of this smart group of people," CIC
executive director Peggy O'Brien said in a prepared statement. "We're committed
to ensuring that CIC's work has local impact for our system members, and this
group will help all of our members to make stronger community and business
