Charter Communications Inc. has hired former United Pan-Europe Communications
N.V. (UPC) executive vice president Lee Clayton as its new Midwest-division
senior VP of operations.
Clayton, who has 22 years' experience in the cable business, replaces Bill
Shreffler, who resigned from the position in December. Shreffler is now VP of
operations for CEQUEL III, a St. Louis investment firm headed by former Charter
CEO Jerry Kent.
In her new position, Clayton will have overall responsibility for all
Charter-Midwest operations serving about 1.2 million customers in 13 states:
Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas,
Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona.
Prior to UPC, Clayton held senior marketing, communications,
marketing-research, media-planning and account-management positions with the
former Rifkin & Associates Inc., the former United Cable Television Corp.,
Bortz & Co. Inc., Campbell-Mithun Advertising and Clayton Ventures Inc., a
strategic-planning, new-business-development and marketing and communications
firm she founded.
