Comcast Media Center said it has landed 60 cable operator customers for the high-definition TV service available through its HITS Quantum distribution platform.
HITS Quantum's HD lineup currently features 21 HD channels, which are delivered in MPEG-2 format and compressed so that three HDs fit in one 6-MHz QAM.
High-def channels distributed by CMC include A&E HD, USA Network HD, Discovery HD, Disney Channel HD and Fox News Channel HD. The full list of HITS Quantum programming more than 285 channels of digital video and audio services is available at http://www.comcastmediacenter.com/hits-quantum/programming-lineup.asp.
"The HITS Quantum portfolio is designed to provide fast, efficient and economical solutions for cable systems that want to reclaim analog bandwidth and launch a highly competitive lineup of advanced services for generating additional revenues," CMC senior vice president and COO Gary Traver said, in a statement.
HITS Quantum supports both 64 QAM and 256 QAM digital modulation schemes, secured authorization and DPI triggers for ad-insertion.
