CMT will add a second season of competition show The Singing Bee in January.
Doubling its rookie season run, the network has ordered 20 episodes of the show from The Gurin Co. and Juma Entertainment.
The highest-rated original series in the network's history, the show debuted as CMT's most-watched premiere ever in June with 1.5 million watchers, including 771,000 persons 18 to 49. According to Nielsen Media Research, The Singing Bee's first-season finale averaged 848,000 watchers on Aug. 15, with 424,000 from the aforementioned demo.
Blending a mix of country music with popular favorites from other genres, the series tests contestants' knowledge of lyrics to well-known songs, with those failing to accurately sing the correct lyrics eliminated from the competition.
